Staten Island JCC Runs Career Workshop for Worried Parents
In these challenging economic times, the Staten Island JCC is offering a workshop for parents of college seniors that will give them insight into the current job market.
- What matters more than a high GPA and strong academics
- Where college career services can help (and when to steer clear)
- Which industries start full-time recruiting for seniors during freshman year
Parents can pay up to $200,000 for their children's college education, more when you add SAT prep, admissions coaching, and application preparation. But colleges do not actively place students in jobs, and professional development is not part of the curriculum. SixFigureStart, a career coaching firm helping Gen Y students and young professionals to launch fulfilling and financially rewarding careers, says it can help parents find out what people need to know about the job search process, and what parents can do to help.
The coaches of SixFigureStart are all former Fortune 500 recruiters who have hired thousands of people and know how the hiring process really works and what employers really want. SixFigureStart co-founders Connie Thanasoulis (Staten Island native) and Caroline Ceniza-Levine have a combined 40 years of HR and business experience.
